Bird Flu - Are You Safe? What People Are Doing To Protect Themselves

They will help you save hours of frustrating, wasted searching, and let you zero in on the best material on this subject - like this article you're reading. Go on... Every year, 15 million people around the world die from infectious diseases. It is the second leading cause of worldwide deaths, with cardiovascular disease claiming the number one spot. In the US alone, your basic seasonal flu results in about 100,000 hospitizations and 36,000 deaths.
While it is nice to think that government agencies and health officials have everything under control, we must also be realistic and understand that despite best efforts, they can only do so much. With the recent reports about Bird flu H5N1, we are beginning to realize just how vulnerable we are. When you consider existing death rates with known and often preventable and/or treatable diseases, you begin to understand why an unknown, untreatable, unpreventable disease like Bird Flu H5N1 is just, well..... downright scary.
The World Health Organization has it classified H5N1 as a level 3 threat, which means it is at a stage where there is some verified human-to-human transmission, but not enough to sustain a real threat at this time. H5N1 will need to go through a few more changes before it can successfully pass through human populations, but it's getting there.
Current vaccines are not proven to be adequate in treating Bird Flu H5N1. At the time of writing this article, there is no 100% guaranteed effective vaccine specifically designed for H5N1. They are working on it, but because they don't know what the virus will look like once in a mutated form, they can really only guess. There is a lot of news about countries stockpiling vaccines with hope they may be effective. What you may not know is that these vaccines were designed for other types of flu and therefore may not work at all. The other problem is that there is only so much to go around and poor countries just don't have the resources to acquire large quantities of vaccines. Recently, it was reported that there would be about 120 million vaccines available within 6 months to fight a pandemic H5N1 flu. Upon last check, the population of the United states is about 295,734,134. Will you get your share?
There are a number of items on the market which may offer protection in the event of a flu pandemic. One of the most popular and recommended is called the Nano Mask, which is the first face mask in the world offering protection against airborne threats such as Bird Flu & SARS. It uses special filters to isolate and destroy 99.999% of airborne pathogens as small as 0.027 microns. Compare this to the N95 mask developed by 3M which only blocks about 95% of particles as small as 0.3 microns. The H5N1 virus is currently 0.1 microns in size, making the N95 mask completely ineffective.
Another important difference between the Nano Mask and the N95 mask is that the Nano Mask actually destroys pathogens which come in contact with it, whereas N95 simply blocks the pathogens, offering no further protection. Many experts on the topic of bird flu are saying that the Nano Mask is perhaps the best protection against bird flu, being the only one of it's kind that would be capable of handling the H5N1 virus.
The Nano Mask gives individuals and families the chance to protect themselves where government and the medical community may fail. Preparation is key, but only you can make the decision to take action now...... before the pandemic starts.
